Our School is located in the Indian state Uttrakahand which is also called as DEV BHOOMI( Land of God) and this place has a spiritual connection as per Hindu mythology as every year millions of pilgrim visit this land for various holy rituals across the globe. One of the greatest reason is the Holy river Great Ganges flow through this state and among pilgrim the significance of this river is highest and also worshipped as Mother Ganges.
Although India sometimes has a bad reputation but at the same time Indian culture is based on the rule of ATITHI DEVO BHAW which means Guest are the form of GOD
Our School is located in the UTTARKASHI and also have a significance value among pilgrim for Char dham yatra as Holy shrine of Gangotri God abode at just about 95 Km from our ashram.
Gomukh is a snout of the Gangotri Glacier, from where Bhagirathi River originates, is one of the primary sources of the Ganges River and because of this holy aroma of this land this land is safe and often treated as most visited area across world traveler and specially those who look forward for spirituality and yoga teaching
The local people here are very welcoming and friendly, and full of innocence as compare to Indian metro city crowd.
This land is surely a nice and safe place for both man and women and even for single women traveler and can be unforgettable moment for those enthusiast who come looks India as a land of mythology, spirituality and human relation.

Don’t drink water that comes straight out of a faucet. Showering is fine (as long as you don’t gulp mouthfuls of the water). You should check if restaurants/cafes use filtered water for their ice and drinks if you are eating or drinking outside from Yoga Bhawna Mission School
Our Meals are cooked in filtered and purified water and we provide filtered water bottle .Our location is located at almost no pollution zone and one can see the serene water from River Ganges flowing through.

We don’t have mosquitoes due to neat and clean locality and all our ventilation / windows are grilled with metal mosquito net.
Since we are located in Himalaya mountain hence some time it’s there in summer and is less of a problem in the colder months (and you will generally be wearing more layers as well). You should be fine with regularly applied bug repellant.

Not all are required, but you should check with your doctor as well.

You shouldn’t have to worry about malaria in Uttarkashi, and/or taking any sort of anti-malaria medicine, as Uttarkashi isn’t in a high-risk zone for malaria. Click to see a map of malaria rates across India
Malaria medicine can sometimes be the source of vivid nightmares, and taking it for an extended period of time (i.e. 30 days) is generally not recommended. Some travelers have the medicine on hand, just in case, but you likely won’t need to take it in Uttarkashi. However, take our advice with a grain of salt, as we are not medical professionals, in the western sense of the word.

No, it is generally found in rural areas and in rice paddies (none of which are in Uttarkashi). Unless you plan on staying in a rural area and local village for a long period of time afterward, you should not worry about Japanese Encephalitis and mosquito repellant should be okay (as it is transmitted via mosquitoes.)

Yes we recommend you to get vaccinated for Typhoid as India in general has a higher risk for Typhoid, so you should consider it. Useful article and discussion on getting Typhoid vaccines for India

If our course is the first activity that you are doing in India, you should book your flights so that you arrive one or two days before the scheduled start date of the course, it will also give you some flexibility in travel time to arrive here. When all of our students arrive we have a short orientation session one day before the course begins, and classes begin on the morning of the scheduled start date

Depends If you aren’t planning on exploring more of India, you should book your flight so that you leave one or two day after the scheduled end date of the course. We have a graduation ceremony in the afternoon of the last day, and while you are free to leave right after, you’ll most likely want to celebrate with your classmates and teachers afterwards.

10) Spectacles or contact lenses – If one wears glasses or lenses then an alternate set should be kept Is there a dress code?We don’t have any specific dress code in our school but you should choose yoga wear that hugs your body shape, and allows for easy movement and have a enough stretch for Ashanas Practice, Indian culture doesn’t encourage the exposed and revealing dress and you should chose dress that covers your knees and shoulders.
Some Tips to choose your Yoga Dress

Yoga Tops- Choose yoga wear that is comfortable, with modest coverage that and not of too much revealing. You will not be comfortable tucking at your clothes during yoga class. Stretchable cotton-blend t-shirts- blouse that hug the torso will work well for both men and women. Avoid tops and blouse with loose necklines or collars; they are irritating during inversions, such as shoulder stand or invert ashanas. Women should look for bra support built into a yoga top.
Yoga Bootom/pants- Yoga pants with an elastic waistband additionally if it’s with waist draw cord are best while holding and securing your pant ( Make sure the draw string should be smooth else it will make a lump and may irritate you while lying on the stomach ) .Chose your pants that conform to the body’s shape . For women, yoga pants are available with a foldable waist for extra comfort and warmth. Capri-style yoga pants are also famous for both men and women. You can also get the stretched leggings for both man and women for ashanas class and Pajama for literature class.
Overly loose pants is irritating when it slide and get in the way of yoga poses so avoid using it .. Avoid wearing shorts because they can bunch up in upside-down poses.

You should not carry extra money during your TTC as we provide food and accommodation and apart from your daily schedule you will not have time to go out from school from your busy schedule of training and we will recommend to carry between 200 to 400 USD for an emergency and Indian currency less than 10000 INR . We also recommend you to obtaining an ATM card that doesn’t charge / reimburses international fees. For international traveler the most convenient way is to carry ATM card which has transaction limit of about $100-150 USD per day. Please also check your bank for the transaction charge of every time you withdraw money outside from your country from ATM machine

We have plenty of mats for you to borrow and we will recommend you not to carry to avoid extra luggage.
